Romelu Lukaku completes €80m transfer to Inter from Manchester United

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has explained the club's decision not to buy a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter in a £74m transfer on Thursday.

Watford did not disclose the cost but French media reported it was in the region of 32 million pounds, eclipsing the 18.5 million pounds the Hornets paid for forward Andre Gray in 2017.

The 29 year-old also revealed that he is eager to grab the fresh start afforded to him by Burnley with both hands, after joining the Clarets on a half-season loan deal.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has hinted he's happy to see the back of an "overweight and unprofessional" Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the Belgium worldwide on the cusp of completing a move to Inter.

The new signing is also quoted on the club's website saying, "Inter were the only club I wanted, because Inter is not eor everyone".

Inter are confident of signing Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United after making a new, improved, offer of £70m including add-ons for the striker. "I'm here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top", Lukaku said.

The Manchester United manager also indicated that Lukaku will not be missed as much as the attacking set-up this season is different compared to a year ago.

The move ended a protracted saga that has dominated the rumour mill throughout much of the window, with United clearly keen to move him out of Old Trafford.

Lukaku earns £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

The former looked set to land Lukaku before a swap deal including Paulo Dybala fell through.

"We all know there's no guarantees with any signing you make, you can only hedge your bets in the right way and I can only imagine after a quiet couple of years he's hungry and he's got a desire to prove himself, first of all to himself".

Now that a deal has been agreed, Lukaku will travel to Italy and has a medical booked for Thursday in Milan.

He became one of the greatest strikers in the world.

Solskjaer went on to insist he is not disappointed with United's transfer dealings, amid a summer that has seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire arrived in big-money deals.

"I think there was always that feeling of was he fit enough?" You can play badly, miss shots on goal, hit a bad cross or give goals away as they're mistakes in football but you can't be overweight.
