In Afterlife, players will take the role of Fixers - databrokers and masterminds of Night City, and your job is to recruit cyberpunks, equip them with gear, and give them missions.
And if this new game proves to be a hit with fans, CMON and CD Projekt RED has confirmed that this will be just the first collaboration between the two companies, with plans for more to follow.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification.
The Cyberpunk 2077 card game sees players cast as Fixers; that is, folk who hire cyberpunks such as the game's protagonist to do their dirty work for them. In all this, players will have to manage their money, choosing what to buy from what they can afford. It's unclear if this refers to more Cyberpunk card games, Witcher titles, or something else entirely. This is important as those who do survive their missions become Veterans, who then transfer their experience onto newer recruits. "Using an innovative drafting mechanic and special dashboard, you must decide which cards you want to buy, and which to sacrifice for funds in order to purchase new ones", the post says. As a huge fan of board and card games myself, this is excellent news for fans like me. In our eight months of waiting, our appetites will be whetted by the launch of a new tabletop RPG set in Night City, and also now a new card game as well.
