Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta dates confirmed alongside new trailer

Posted August 03, 2019

Cross-play is one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's biggest features, but fans had many lingering questions ever since the feature was first announced back in May.

The full game will feature crossplay between Xbox One, PS4 and PC - and the beta will give players the chance to try out crossplay between all platforms for the very first time.

It starts with a look at the create a class system and the changes made, and goes into a very lengthy period of gameplay, swapping between numerous players as multiple modes are shown off.

Patrick Kelly, Infinity Ward's creative director and co-studio head, said in a statement that, "Our goal with Modern Warfare is to bring all gamers together from day one to play together".

The beta begins on September 12 for PS4 players who've pre-ordered, then opens up for all PS4 users on September 14. And, that's just the beginning for Modern Warfare fans. A gameplay livestream took place after the reveal of the multiplayer trailer, which revealed more details about the new 2-on-2 Gunfight mode- a series of fast-paced rounds taking place on smaller-scale maps. We want to know how you feel. Following that, the beta will open up to all PS4 owners for two more days on September 14 and September 15.

At the Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal event this week, however, Infinity Ward came prepared.

We don't know an bad lot about the beta just yet - but here's all the early information you need to know. The game itself arrives on October 25, 2019, so I'm glad that the beta will be here so much earlier. You can rewatch the reveal event here.
