Disney's Mulan is slated to hit theaters in the spring of 2020. Well, I belong to the generation that has to complain about each and everything on the internet, so here we go.Where is that awesome dragon and cricket from the original film? Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. Starring Liu Yifei as Mulan, this film showcases a courageous warrior who fights for the honor of China and the honor of her family.
There are no familiar songs included in the teaser because, well, there apparently won't be any in the full film either.
Check out the official Mulan Teaser starring Yifei Liu! A determined look on her face and her arrow poised to strike, this is the Mulan fans old and new have loved or will come to love.
The new film is a live-action remake of the 1998 classic animated film about a female Chinese warrior. After that, the trailer juxtaposes Mulan's preparations to be a "good wife" with scenes of her in an epic battle. And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's director Niki Caro is only the second woman at the studio to direct a film with a $100 million budget, after filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
Chinese actress Yifei Liu will portray the title character, Mulan, for this live-action movie. It also looks like much more of the focus will be on the fighting rather than the human drama, which feel very un-Disney but definitely more like the other adaptations of this story I've seen.
