Nintendo makes over Dr. Mario for iOS and Android

Posted June 19, 2019

Announced back in January this year, we now have a release date for the iOS and Android game, with it set to be available on both platforms from July 10.

The puzzle game involves matching capsules with viruses to eliminate them. It will mix things up even more by adding new doctors with special skills and including helpful items such as Koopa shells to certain puzzles. Take your time, because each puzzling stage's configuration of viruses must be cleared using a limited number of capsules.

Dr. Mario World is free-to-start and will be available to download for iOS and Android devices beginning 10 July.

The classic match-three puzzler has been mobile-ified in all the ways you might expect: in addition to new, touch-friendly controls, World has an in-game currency that can be purchased with real-world currency, and randomized character unlocks (apparently everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom is a doctor). Now they're ready to eliminate those unruly viruses. If you've ever played Candy Crush Saga, you pretty much know what you're getting from Dr. Mario World, as it follows virtually the same formula. According to Nintendo, the game will feature "hundreds of stages over many different worlds", which sounds like a lot of fun.

You're not in this alone-send and receive stamina-giving hearts to use in stage mode! In Versus Mode, players can turn up the intensity by challenging others online to a one-on-one showdown in real-time.
