Target Registers Down Nationwide; Long Lines and Wait for Customers

Posted June 17, 2019

Videos sent to FOX 9 showed shoppers caught in line due to the problems. Many on social media claimed that Target employees say that the malfunction is chain-wide.

Target has since caught wind of what's happening and tweeted out an apology to customers who were affected.

"Target's registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores".

And CNN reported at 3 p.m. that the registers had been down for at least 45 minutes. Some cashiers were using handheld devices to manually enter bar codes so customers could check out. "Every single register at the Richfield Target is down".

Employees were reportedly as stressed out as customers, handing out free samples and doing whatever possible to placate the angered crowds.

"The poor people @Target", a Twitter user with the handle wrote. There's no indication of when service may be restored.

The store is experiencing a cash register outage at many locations across the country Saturday afternoon. The statement claimed that a review found that the issue was internal not a data breach.

Target Corp on Saturday said it was working on a problem that prevented customers in the United States from paying for their purchases.
