It's been a long time coming, and we've had to wait for longer than usual, but Activision and developer, Infinity Ward, have finally lifted the lid on Call of Duty 2019, and it's just as we've been predicting for months: the return to the fame Modern Warfare series. The confirmation of the project comes after months of intense speculation from players and press, and means big things for longtime fans of the original trilogy.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 will release on October 24, 2019.
In footage we've seen of the Townhouse mission, the player is shown shooting through a closed door, and that got us curious about the kind of destructability we'd be seeing in the final game. Therefore, approach and atmospheres decidedly different from a year ago, which also require particular attention to the narrative sector: this is in fact a basic element in the new Call of Duty, not only in the vast single player that this time is well present, but also in a sort of connective tissue that characterizes all the modes of the game, even the multiplayer between cooperative and competitive, in a constant and pervasive progression and narration.
The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare video game is now available to pre-order digitally on Xbox One. While not a lot of details are yet available regarding the game's co-op mode, Infinity Ward is having the single player story lead directly into the co-op story. Unlike Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare will have singleplayer campaign on top of the usual multiplayer modes and co-op missions.
With both the return of Modern Warfare, and cross-play support, it's clear- and awesome - that Infinity Ward and Activision are actively working to bring players together. It will also make use of new audio effects and on applicable platforms, will support full Dolby ATMOS. This is in stark contrast to what was previously done by Black Ops 4, devoid of substantial single player and characterized by more frivolous atmospheres, at least compared to a certain adherence with the "real" war.
How will this be different from other Call of Duty games?
Activision will not be selling the standard season pass which normally unlocks new, post-launch multiplayer maps.
UPDATE: The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Precision Edition is Priced at $99.99 and it can be pre-ordered from GameStop. The Standard Edition as the Physical Standard Edition includes the only base game and do not include any other cosmetic items.
In addition, GameStop customers in the United States will also receive a GameStop Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Animated Calling Card‡.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is scheduled for release globally October 25 th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
