England 5 - 0 Czech Republic: Sterling hits Wembley hat-trick

Hudson-Odoi made his senior England debut against the Czech Republic on Friday night, but is yet to make his first Premier League start for Chelsea this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Leicester defender Harry Maguire was singled out by Czech Republic forward Matej Vydra as a "weak link" in the England ranks ahead of Friday's game at Wembley - but Tumbakovic, who said his side can not look at previous results as for inspiration this time out, disagreed.

With the Three Lions facing a lower-ranked side, many are expecting an easier game than the one they faced at Wembley, but Southgate has warned his side that playing away from home could be a tougher task.

England's Raheem Sterling scores his side's third goal of the game during the UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying, Group A match at Wembley Stadium, London.

"I'm pleased for him, it is a special night for him", manager Gareth Southgate said.

Southgate took the decision to promote the Blues winger into the senior squad after his maiden Under-21 call-up.

"I always think of Sir Alex with Ryan and how he did that so well".

"We've got competition for places and I think with attacking players anyway they mature very young, and they can go in very young", said Southgate ahead of Monday's Group A clash in Montenegro.

"But we know, we have been there twice before and not managed to beat them, so it will be an intense environment, completely different to the challenge (against the Czechs) and a good one for us because we have to be able to adapt to these different situations and make sure that we can show our quality in different environments".

Jason Sancho impressed with an assist on his first competitive start, while youth prospects Declan Rice and Callum Hudson-Odoi were handed their debuts from the bench.

A starting lineup with an average age of 24 were simply too good for the lumbering Czechs, for whom the likes of world class players such as Pavel Nedved and Tomas Rosicky must now seem a distant memory. He just wants to work hard and get better.

'The importance of the start of the qualifiers, the first game, brings its own importance, its own responsibilities, ' he added.

He wrote: "So many wonderfully talented players coming through".

"The third goal meant that he could enjoy it and breathe a little bit more when he went in, so it was a ideal game for him to come into, really, at that point, and similarly with Callum", Southgate said.
