Adam Levine Addresses Halftime Show Hate on Instagram: ‘We Thank Our Critics’

After Beyonce tore the house and neighboring suburbs down with her performance in 2016 and Lady Gaga dived off a building in 2017, there was a lot for Maroon 5 to live up to, sure.

It's safe to say that they'll still be making millions thanks to the Super Bowl promotion.

It had been teased before the Super Bowl that the halftime show was going to feature a tribute of some kind to SpongeBob SquarePants.

While he performed 'Sweet Victory, ' since his moment was pretty short, the fans were not entirely satisfied. It then landed where Travis popped up on stage behind flames and a part of the stage that looked like it just got hit.

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine also belted out "Girls Like You", "Sugar", and "Moves Like Jagger". Multiple artists, including superstars like Rihanna and Cardi B, publicly turned down offers to perform in response to the league's unfair treatment of Colin Kaepernick for protesting police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

As you know by now, the band took over the field at the Super Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia earlier tonight but it seems like fans were more excited over a possible Spongebob appearance at the big event. He added: "I'm not in the right profession if I can't handle a little bit of controversy".

And just to really show his SJW street cred, Levine went on to "thank the universe" for the opportunity to perform.

Atlanta-based rapper Big Boi, of hip-hop duo OutKast, dipped into 2003 to perform his hit single, "The Way You Move".

"I can not divulge the details on that level 'cause that will be spoiling it - we don't want to do that - but Big Boi is my dude", he said.

Before Maroon 5 took to the stage on Sunday, they hinted that we may be seeing the beloved cartoon join in on the performance.

Fans weren't all that impressed and expressed disappointment through social media.

"I too have an Adam Levine pillow", one person wrote, while another said, "For sale: Adam Levine's shirt.

I spoke to many people, most importantly though, I silenced all the noise and listened to myself, and made my decision about how I felt".

"They're scapegoating me into figuring out the goalposts on what is offensive in America", she said.
