Patriots taking on Chiefs in AFC Championship Game

Patterson and the Patriots are one game away from the Super Bowl, and Patterson could be a player who helps shape that outcome. After a surprisingly mortal regular season, Touchdown Tom transformed into a playoff God against the Chargers, burying the Bolts with a steady diet of short passes, a lot of them to Julian Edelman (9-151-0) and James White (15-97-0). With Brady dropping dimes left and right, the Patriots finished the first half with as many touchdowns (five) as the Chargers (five) had first downs.

That snap came at the 1-yard line, on a third-and-goal early in the second quarter.

Oddsmakers opened the Patriots-Chiefs over/under at 58.5, but early forecasts calling for kickoff temperatures in the single digits sent the total plummeting to 54 as bettors quickly jumped on the under. This was the expected outcome for Berry, who practiced fully all week.

Despite missing most of the season with injuries, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed optimism when describing how Berry has looked in practice this week. The run game had been working with great success to that point, but Josh McDaniels chose to dial up a playaction pass to try to catch the Chiefs defense off guard.

They now host the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs finally got their break and soon they got their touchdown, Damien Williams catching a short pass from Patrick Mahomes and dashing 23 yards to put Kansas City up, 21-17. "We'll see. It'll be a good game", Brady said. That game was in Foxborough, and Kansas City has played much better at Arrowhead Stadium this season.

Even though the past Super Bowl participants haven't played a single road game in the last 10 years or so, you can never ever count out the Patriots this deep into the playoffs.
