"Monday Night Football" likely had lots of new viewers last night, as Marvel Studios dropped a new trailer to its upcoming "Captain Marvel" blockbuster during halftime of the game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN.
The trailer begins with Carol Danvers, in her green Captain Marvel costume, cautiously walking through a subway vehicle, intercut with a conversation between Danvers and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
Why it matters: "Captain Marvel" promises to be an important film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We get a glimpse of the most powerful superhero in Marvel universe, someone Avengers need desperately in Infinity War sequel after Thanos' finger snap.
"You have this Kree part of her that's unemotional, that is an incredible fighter and competitive", Larson told Entertainment Weekly.
Want more Captain Marvel after watching the CAPTAIN MARVEL trailer 2? After giving us a second to catch our breath, the trailer closes on a touch of the trademark Marvel humor with a brief sequence of Danvers attempting to keep an easily distracted Fury on mission.
"So, Skrulls are the bad guys?" a young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, with the help of some impressive CGI) asks Danvers in the clip.
Captain Marvel opens in SA cinemas on Friday, 8 March 2019. Future X-Men character Rogue absorbs all of Captain Marvel's memories and powers.
After joining an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law's enigmatic commander, Carol is thrown into an intergalactic battle after the Skrulls invade Earth, led by Ben Mendelsohn's Talos at the head of the army. I wonder what happened to her to place her with the Kree in the first place or give her powers?
Fury then adds that Danvers herself is one of the Kree, 'a race of noble warriors, ' which Danvers corrects by saying, 'noble warrior heroes'.
Before the trailer was released, Disney also shared a new poster for the movie, showing a glowing Danvers.
