Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga were among thousands fleeing their homes on Friday as a fast-moving wildfire engulfed Malibu and nearby celebrity neighbourhoods.

According to TMZ, the wildfire has reached the property of the family's Calabasas abode, which they evacuated last night.

"I am too nervous with these fires #MamaKoKo", Khloe Kardashian posted on Twitter.

Kardashian West first tweeted a status update on her home, explaining that the flames were "more contained and have stopped at the moment". It doesn't seem like it is getting worse right now, I just pray the winds are in our favor.

"We're at Zuma Beach".

Actress Alyssa Milano, who lives in that area, told her Twitter followers that she and her family also had to leave their home.

Condemning people who had earlier criticised her for caring about the welfare of her animals, the Charmed star added: "To those who insisted on still being hurtful because our political affiliation is different, you are what is wrong with the country".

The Woolsey Fire covers 35,000 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and has caused the evacuation of 75,000 homes, KTLA reported. She and baby True were forced to evacuate their Calabasas home just before the fire made it that way.

Star Wars star Mark Hamill thanked fans for their concern amid the fire. But when she landed, Kardashian learned she had an hour to evacuate her home.

Parts of Northern California, about 500 miles from the Woolsey and Hill Fires, have already been ravaged by wildfires that displaced thousands of people.

There were shout-outs as well to the firefighters struggling to contain the fires in what were described as especially hard conditions.

Both Kim and Kourtney live in Calabasas, near their mum Kris Jenner.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department tweets that the fire is headed to the ocean, punctuating the message with the declaration: "Imminent threat!"

Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight on "The Office", indicated online that he and his family were away when flames "roared down the creek bed behind our house and missed it by a dozen yards!"

Khloe urged her followers to do the same and help out the firefighters, "I know the fearless men and women are working so hard, tirelessly, for all of us would greatly appreciate it", Khloe said in her story.

He wrote: "My house is in that".

"Hope everyone is being very careful this morning", he tweeted.

The Malibu area is also home to dozens of filming locations. The ranch was purchased by Paramount almost a century ago and was recently used for the set of "Westworld", a Western series launched by HBO in 2016.

So, in California raging large-scale forest fires.
