The company has revealed that the smartphone will have the fingerprint sensor embedded beneath the display just as some of the recently launched Oppo and Vivo phones and not on the rear panel as seen on the OnePlus 6.

The renders have come from Roland Quandt over at WinFuture.de who has gotten his hands on renders of the phone in Midnight Black and Mirror Black - technically the same colour, just in two different finishes. "Prepare for the #OnePlus6T" the new OnePlus 6T teaser notes.

Aside from the barely-there new notch, the other dramatic design change between the OnePlus 6T and the OnePlus 6 is the removal of the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. This is perhaps one of the most crucial changes which the OnePlus 6T comes with.

If the anticipated flagship is anything like the OnePlus Bullets Wireless, the warranty will state somewhere that it "makes no guarantees" about water-resistance and that liquid damage isn't covered by the warranty.

Further, the OnePlus 6T renders reveal the teardrop or dewdrop styled notch which is much smaller in size as compared to the notch seen on the OnePlus 6.

The report also revealed that the OnePlus 5T was supposed to feature the technology, but the feature wasn't as fast or efficient as OnePlus wanted, so it killed the project and saved it for a later date.

During an interview with CNET, Lau talked about the OnePlus 6T in detail.

Also, OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming device will not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

A few days ago, a rumoured OnePlus 6T media invite surfaced on the internet which announced October 17 as the launch date for this new device.

Speaking of technical specifications, the upcoming smartphone is expected to be similar to the OnePlus 6 i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip (SoC) and three RAM & storage configurations - 6GB/64GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. Also, on the software front, the OnePlus 6T is expected to boot Android 9 Pie out of the box.
