Teddy Bridgewater traded to the New Orleans Saints

Teddy Bridgewater is heading to New Orleans.

New York Jets rookie Sam Darnold will begin the 2018 season as the team's starting quarterback after the team traded Teddy Bridgewater to the Saints on Wednesday, reports NFL Network's Ian Rappaport.

The Saints have their sights set on Super Bowl contention after coming within one play of reaching the NFC title game last season. Josh McCown, 39, who didn't play in the past two preseason games, is expected to be the No. 2. That led to the Jets shopping him. After the Vikings chose to go in a different direction over long-term concerns about the condition of the quarterback's knee, he opted to sign a one-year deal with the New York Jets. "We look forward to working with him and watching him continue to develop as a player".

The move means Bridgewater will be the No. 2 quarterback for New Orleans behind Hall-of-Fame quarterback Drew Brees.

He made a strong pre-season start by completing 64.4 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and one interception. Bridgewater got his things, got off the bus, and then they just drove away.

Meanwhile, the deal raises questions about Savage's future with the Saints, even though his preseason numbers have been solid. The Saints will also receive a 2019 sixth-rounder.

Hill will nearly certainly remain on the Saints' 53-man roster because they're intrigued by his long-term potential and because he also serves as one of their top special-teams coverage specialists.
