‘The Crown’: First image released of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II

Posted July 20, 2018

Colman, who slips into the shoes of award-winning actress Claire Foy, is seen in the picture captioned "Patience". And while we're definitely going to miss seeing Foy as the Queen, this new picture has got us so excited to see the wonderful work Olivia Coleman is sure to do as her own interpretation of the titular monarch.

The 44-year-old actress also quipped, "I'm basically going to rewatch her every episode and copy her!"

Colman is not the only actor taking over an already established character in the Netflix hit.

In the debut photo of Olivia in the prestigious role, she couldn't encapsulate the monarch more, clung on to a china tea cup, with the royal's signature stern gaze.

Her Majesty the Queen has gotten a makeover.

Many fans were disappointed Foy exited the series after two seasons, but that was the plan when Foy signed on to the series. Exit Matt Smith, and Vanessa Kirby, among others, to be replaced by Tobias Menzies (new Philip Mountbatten) and Helena Bonham Carter (new Margaret of the United Kingdom).

The series is expected to last six seasons and as it moves into its third season, it is also shifting into its second "phase".

"Watching the first series was blissful because I had no idea".

The third series will explore plots such as Princess Margaret's affair with British Baronet Roddy Llewellyn, and her consequent divorce from Antony Armstrong-Jones. Not to mention, the character of Camila Parker Bowles will start to play a role in the next season.
