Filipino Muslims attend prayer to mark Eid'l Fitr, the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, in Pikit town, North Cotabato on Friday.

Eid al-Fitr marks the beginning of the tenth month in the Islamic calendar, known as Shawwal, and is a joyous celebration.

Gordon made the remark as he joined Muslims in the observance of Eid'l Fitr-a day of joy, thanksgiving, worship, brotherhood, solidarity, and morality for the Islamic faith.

President Hassan Rouhani, in an Eid al-Fitr message, added: "I believe the land of Palestine will be returned to owners of the land with the help by god". After breakfast, they go to the mosque to offer Eid prayers, Salat al-Eid.

Ramadan, one of the Five Pillars of Islam which lasts between 29 and 30 days, is based on when a new moon is sighted by local religious authorities. According to the Gazi Council, 5-10 manats should be given by each person.

On this public holiday, Muslims gather mainly in the mosque or any outdoor location early morning for prayers and break their fast feasting on delicacies.

The largest Eid celebration in Europe took place in a United Kingdom park today with over 140,000 Muslims gathering to mark the end of Ramadan.

Oshana Yusuf, a 77-year old Christian resident of Baze began to visit his Muslim neighbors' homes on Friday, the first day of the three-day celebration, along with his family.

Ramadan is held during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a time for spiritual reflection, spending time with loved ones, and charitable work.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, John Boadu, the NPP said Muslims should also pray for grace for all Ghanaians. Gifts are frequently given-new clothes are part of the tradition-and Eidi (Eid gifts) is given by elders. A huge amount of money and food were also donated in the Holy month of Ramadan to help the poor and needy.
