The five-time Ballon d'Or victor issued a peculiar statement after their UEFA Champions League final victory over Liverpool speaking about his time in Madrid in past tense.

Cristiano Ronaldo has chose to leave Real Madrid and is set to make a sensational return to Manchester United in a £131m deal this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.

"It's been very nice to be at Madrid", he said.

According to Record, Ronaldo has made the "irreversible" decision to call time on his nine-year stint at Madrid and the Portuguese forward will now look for a new club with England, France and Italy named as potential destinations.

"He must obviously have his reasons, they are personal decisions on which I can not give my opinion not knowing what is happening in his head".

TeamTalk are citing a report from AS that claims Ronaldo has chose to leave Madrid after they refused to meet his salary demands following talks over yet another contract extension.

According to another report, Ronaldo became more unhappy after his agent Jorge Mendes met with the club on Wednesday.

"Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't own Real Madrid, if the president chooses - anyone can be there", said Marcelo.

The French champions have indicated that they are not prepared to sell the Brazil worldwide, but Madrid have made no secret of the fact that they will attempt a put a deal together this summer.

Per Jose Felix Diaz of Marca, Neymar still believes he can secure a "miracle move" to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and Real continue to view signing him as their No. 1 priority.

Ronaldo's discontent at the Bernabeu reportedly centres around the fact that it's the end of the season and he's slightly bored between now and the beginning of the World Cup.

Ronaldo was the main man on the 2018 edition and it seems that he will also repeat this in 2019.
