Today Asus announced a new entry-level smartphone - the ZenFone Live L1. Actually, the ZenFone Live L1 is Asus' first Android Go smartphone. There is also a variant with 2GB RAM and it runs Android Oreo with ZenUI 5.0 on top. Everything here is created to take up less space and use less bandwidth, as well as run on modest hardware.
Asus Zenfone Live L1 features a 5.5-inch HD+ screen supporting 1440 x 720 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. As you can see, the hardware is modest but it will run Android GO efficiently.
The camera arrangement houses a rear 13-megapixel sensor which does support Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), a critical optics feature absent on the majority of other Android Go phones and a 5-megapixel selfie camera that also powers its ability to be unlocked with just a face. Other features include face unlocking, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/A-GPS, micro USB, 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio.
It is available in two RAM+Storage configurations- 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB which are priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is in direct competition with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which has a 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM model priced at Rs 14,999. It is powered by a 5000 mAh battery while the size and weight of the smartphone are nearly equivalent to that of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 85.5-degree wide-angle view, five-piece lens. Also, the update brings optimization in the front and rear cameras for color correction, HDR algorithm, low light photos, and more. Colour variants of the smartphone include Rose Pink, Midnight Black, White, and Blue. The microSD card is a hybrid slot, which can be used as a secondary SIM card slot. But one recent entrant that has in a way left a mark is the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (review). The handset is set to be available through pre-orders at 12PM on domestic e-commerce marketplace Flipkart.
