Alabama Basketball: Tide Set to Face Auburn in SEC Quarterfinals

Posted March 10, 2018

The Alabama Crimson Tide survived to play another day after a thrilling game against Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament.

Alabama had their best run in the 2nd Half with 13:03 on the clock. Williams finished the game with six points, 10 rebounds, and seven blocks. His play came after Texas A&M's T.J. Starks hit a 3-pointer that produced the Aggies' first lead since the middle of the first half. On Friday, the Crimson Tide rolled up the No. 1 seed Tigers on the hardwood in the SEC tournament quarterfinals, 81-63 (box score, bracket), but the rivalry didn't end without a heated exchange between coaches from both sides. They enter the game with seven wins over teams in the top 50 of the Ratings Percentage Index and have played one of the top 10 schedules in the country.

In 4.3 seconds, Collin Sexton performed a transplant. Not a great look for an Auburn team that has already made history but would like to make a lot more starting next week. It will be up to the selection committee to decide whether the Tide having a larger collection of marquee wins than most bubble teams outweighs also having more losses.

"We've never been there - I've never been there before - and I hear the arena is a really cool place to compete", Graba said.

"They are going to keep doubting us".

The Alabama victory put their five-game losing skid to a halt and gave them a major boost in terms of their chances of making the NCAA Tournament.

"Playing them a third time, coming up with a third game plan, we've got to go with what works and stay away from what didn't", Pearl said.

And then the Crimson Tide dropped the hammer so hard on the Tigers in the second half that it reduced Bruce Pearl to exhausted clichés and postgame peacocking on an Alabama strength coach.

No. 2 Tennessee vs.

Maten and the Bulldogs put Missouri in foul trouble early. Four players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, and Lamar Peters was excellent in scoring 24 points. The Tide, prior to the A&M game, were listed as First Four Out. The Aggie freshman guard finished with 23 points. The Auburn Tigers are shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 78.9 percent from the free throw line.
