Arsenal's Jack Wilshere (left) and Ostersunds FK's Curtis Edwards battle for the ball during the UEFA Europa League round of 32, second leg match.

'The manager summed it up.

Wilshere was branded "the most over-rated player on the planet" by Roy Keane this week, after captaining a Europa League loss at home to Ostersunds, but the England worldwide says he is pleased with his form after appearing to have finally shaken off his long-term injury problems. I think Arsenal are a great example on how not to start a game of football.

'And they got lucky with the result at the end of it. "You were just a poor man's Paul Scholes".

"When Wilshere's your captain, to me, probably the most overrated player on the planet", Keane added.

Wilshere has enjoyed a fruitful 2017-18 season, avoiding any major injuries and even playing 26 times in all competitions after returning to the Arsenal first-team in September. "You can have opinions", Wenger said today, as reported by Sky Sports.

Manager Arsene Wenger defended Wilshere in response to Keane's comments, though he conceded the England global did not play well.

Arsenal want to avoid a repeat of the situation that saw Ozil and Sanchez, as well as Jack Wilshere, enter the a year ago of their contracts with their futures still uncertain. "Roy Keane knows that it can happen to anybody".
