LeBron James carries team to All-Star Game win, earns third MVP award

LeBron James led his team with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists en route to his third All-Star Game MVP.

Klay Thompson had an impressive start to the All-Star game, dropping 15 points in the first half. It was just more representative of the All-Star Games fans were used to.

There was sufficient doubt the novelty of a new format would translate to the court after tip-off.

With just over a minute remaining, there was also a refereeing controversy as the ball appeared to go off Joel Embiid, but after a review, Team Stephen kept the ball but failed to convert on the possession.

However, after last night's All-Star Game, NBA commissioner Adam Silver told ESPN he was pleased with the new format for the game and, as well, is thinking next year's All-Star draft will be televised. "You're going too far, man", James said with a laugh.

Of all the highlights from Sunday's NBA All-Star Game, two, in particular, stood out for Cleveland Cavaliers fans.

Silver also called the new format "incredible". One can imagine a blowout in either direction robbing the game of its newfound intensity.

Safe to say Mike D'Antoni's All-Star team played more defense than any of his Lakers teams ever did.

The mano-a-mano was the stuff of "real-game" theater, with Embiid bullying his way to the bucket with his balletic footwork, blocking a layup attempt by George at a crucial moment, and LeBron avenging with a step-back 3-pointer over the Philadelphia center to tie the score at 144-144.

After James of Cleveland Cavaliers and Stephen Curry of Golden State Warriors received the highest number of votes, they selected starting players for their respective teams on January 18 in a non-televised event.

He said learning how to be a pro was the biggest thing he got out of this experience. Russ was able to make one move, they switched, and Russ kind of was left up in the air. The other option would be to trade players like Hassan Whiteside, Dion Waiters and Tyler Johnson to teams with cap space to free up space to sign James, but that would be significantly more hard especially with Johnson's contract escalating from $5.8 million to $19.2 million in 2018-19. "I'm just happy to be here". He argued a turnover call late in the game with classic LeBron zeal and put the clamps on Curry on the game's final play in a way that would get any National Basketball Association fans' juices flowing.

Stephen Curry's team maintained control for majority of the game.

Each member of the winning team will receive $100,00, while the losing squad will each get $25,000.

After the theme of the weekend was the Lakers' pursuit of Paul George, the fans on hand didn't exactly roll out the red carpet for the player many think could collude with James and land in L.A. next summer.

If the goal on Sunday was to see stars, for most of the night banging one's head against the wall might have been a more enjoyable method.
