SuRie beat six other shortlisted contestants to represent the United Kingdom in Lisbon during May and will perform the song "Storm" at Eurovision 2018.

The results of the UK Eurovision song selection contest aired live on Wednesday with Eurovision: You Decide seeing six prospective acts performing for the honour of representing the United Kingdom at Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.

SuRie says she'll want to be left alone just before she performs Storm so she can collect her thoughts. Her background is in classical oboe, piano and singing - and she performed as a child soloist at the Royal Albert Hall and St Paul's Cathedral, where her audience included Prince Charles.

Although she's a seasoned song writer herself, this track is written by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis and Sean Hargreaves.

The singer-songwriter also has major Eurovision experience, and has worked with the Belgian camp on two occasions.

Tonight the gods of Eurovision are once again putting our nation's musical fate in the hands of the British public - which act will wave the flag for Binfire Brexit Britain in Lisbon in May?

SuRie was one of six acts to take part in the BBC's Eurovision: You Decide 2018 programme, where viewers voted for their favourite song to take on Europe.

Following a combined vote, presenters Mel Giedroyc and Måns Zelmerlöw revealed that SuRie had received the highest number of votes of the evening, therefore earning the wanted Eurovision right at the 2018 competition.

She appeared as a backing singer for Belgium's Loic Nottet during the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015.
