Once the LCL and ACL are fully healed (at over one year post-op), there is no increased chance or retear, but it is well known that there is a higher chance of ACL tear on the other knee once one has been suffered. He said he tore both his anterior and lateral cruciate ligaments, the latter of which wasn't revealed by the Eagles. They lost twice to NY during the regular season and once to New England.
That may be a tad premature just two years into his run as head coach, but there is no question that winning the Super Bowl would help weigh the scale heavily in Pederson's favor.
"Everybody jumped off the bandwagon", Hostetler said. "He would be great company to have". Reid's legacy in Philadelphia now stands as the most successful in franchise history in the regular season but includes a long list of disappointments in the Super Bowl era and may be seen as the most underachieving in postseason play. "It would be great company". I said it since I got here, we have something special here, without a doubt.
Their situations, though, are different. He's been in quarterback meetings and team meetings. All the Eagles' injured players, including tackle Jason Peters, running back Darren Sproles, linebacker Jordan Hicks and safety Chris Maragos, are expected to travel with the team Sunday and be at the game the following Sunday. He had no choice but sit and wait for an opportunity.
"You have a defense that rallies around their quarterback, they're playing well", Hostetler said of the Eagles.
It started even before the game, with quarterback Tom Brady having to get 12 stitches on his throwing hand and missing some valuable practice time during the week. Coach (Doug) Pederson, ever since he got here, just establishing that culture. "But there wasn't much of an alternative". Pederson is not likely to make the same mistake a few times, but he is also not going to shy away from trying something again if it didn't work the first time. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks dropped a wide-open corner route that would have been a long gainer at a critical time in the game. He was intent on being as prepared as possible. He has thrown for just under 600 yards and three TDs. He forever became the king of all backups, and eventually became a starter for the Giants and Raiders. I am who I am. I hadn't had the opportunity. I think we have a culture and a brotherhood here that we're going to be successful. When then starting quarterback Sam Bradford was traded, Wentz started the regular season opener, leading the Eagles to a win over the Cleveland Browns.
He labored at times in replacing Wentz, too, only to complete 26 of 33 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions against the Vikings in the biggest game of his life.
Why it ultimately played out this way for the Eagles, who are seeking their first National Football League title since 1960, and not Reid's Chiefs is a matter of conjecture even beyond the obvious differences in quality of defense.
That's why Foles is more similar to Hostetler than any of the others. "I see the same type of underdog mentality and people jumping off the bandwagon and people saying it can't be done". You lose, you go home.
Foles might be the next.
Jeff Hostetler was one of those who wondered, but he did so from a far different perspective than most.
The Eagles insist they never wavered even after Wentz was lost for the season.
Given their shared bond, you might think Hostetler is rooting for Foles and the Eagles on February 4 against the Patriots.
"We set this up for whoever is in this room, that's who we ride with", Jenkins said in the locker room after that game. "It's just something we need to be careful with".
On the ensuing drive, a short pass from Alex Smith to Albert Wilson went incomplete on first down.
