The "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker co-hosted Minnie's star dedication ceremony with The Walt Disney Company's chief executive Robert Iger.

A star of the big and small screen finally got a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Monday.

Minnie has been celebrated as a fashion icon, pop culture staple and a character who brings joy to children worldwide, and an actor dressed as the cartoon character waved and batted her eyelashes throughout Monday's ceremony.

"Thank you oh-so-much for this wonderful honor".

She finished by noting, "So today, a brief 40 years after Mickey got his star, I'm delighted to honor Minnie and her magic with hers".

In a nod to Minnie's favorite vintage style, both Katy Perry and Heidi Klum dug out their polka dots for the star-studded occasion. "To this day, no one rocks a bow, the color red or a dot quite like her".

"This is the best day ever".

"Seeing Minnie is like returning home", Perry said.

Walk of Fame honorees are selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing the crowd, Katy described just how far back she and Minnie go.

Other Disney children's idols who have had been honoured on the Walk of Fame include Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh and Snow White.
