On Wednesday, the police said that the body of Gulshan, who was considered the prime suspect in the killing of the class X student, was found on Tuesday night from the Bhakra irrigation canal near Jyotisar in Kurukshetra district. When the girl's mother came home, she found her daughter in severely injured condition. "During interrogation, the duo admitted that they killed the girl with her scarf and we have also recovered the half-burnt clothes of the victim from their possession", Panipat SP was quoted saying.
It said the girl's body was found with 19 severe injuries and signs of "unspeakable torture".
The girl, identified as a Dalit went missing while she went to throw her garbage.
Police and forensic officials said the girl was brutally raped and inflicted wounds on her private parts and internal organs.
Reacting to his remarks, Leader of Opposition and INLD leader Abhay Chautala said, "If a senior police officer makes such comments, it shows the weakness and incompetence of the state government".
The incident, which was followed by the discovery of the body of another raped Dalit girl in another part of the state, has triggered protests against Haryana's Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The crime took place when the girl's parents had gone out to work. Alleging that lawlessness prevails in the state and there was a complete breakdown of the law and order machinery, the Congress urged the Governor to recommend to the Centre to dismiss the Khattar government. The police said she was raped, then strangled, and raped again after she was dead. Still, they were brutally raped and murdered by some shameless and cowards. "Such heinous crimes are increasing, but the government seems to be in slumber".
In what can only be described as a sickening attack one of the girls suffered a ruptured liver and lung after she was raped by at least four men in the Kurukshetra region of Haryana.
On Sunday evening, a 22-year-old was allegedly dragged into an SUV and gang-raped for hours in Faridabad.
