According to the Polk County, Florida, Sheriff's Office, a Cessna 340 twin-engine plane crashed shortly after takeoff at the Bartow Municipal Airport in Bartow.

Two of Shannon's daughters, Olivia, 24, and Victoria, 26, died in the crash.

Authorities say they have confirmed a fifth death in a fiery small plane crash in Florida.

Victoria was a school teacher, while her husband was a third year law student at the University of Maryland. "It's a tragedy of monumental proportions when it happens on Christmas Eve".

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shannon, Worthington, and Clayton families".

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Carrie Horstman said Shannon had filed a flight plan to fly Sunday from Bartow to Key West.

All five were killed on impact or immediately after, Polk County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie E. Horstman said. Polk County Fire Rescue is also on the scene. Officials received the call around 7:30 a.m.

Bartow is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Orlando.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will further investigate the cause of the crash.
