Liverpool winger Sadio Mane could return at West Ham

Posted November 05, 2017

Mane has been out since September due to a hamstring injury, with Liverpool struggling in the absence of the Senegal global.

Jürgen Klopp has said Sadio Mané could be a surprise inclusion for Liverpool's visit to West Ham United on Saturday and he would welcome worldwide duty for the Senegal striker. "He could be ready for 20 or 25 minutes", the German told a press conference yesterday.

"It was pretty intense for him as it was his first football session for a long time but he did really well".

Mané is scheduled to join up with Senegal after the West Ham game for their crucial World Cup qualifying double-header against South Africa.

But he would like Mane to be rested for the second match if Senegal secure their place at Russian Federation 2018 with victory over Bafana Bafana on November 10.

Dejan Lovren is also doubtful with a thigh complaint, "I would say it will be really close. That's not nice and it's not right", he added. That's the same for Senegal. "If he has a few days training with them and they get the points they need (to qualify), then maybe we can talk to them and ask if it is necessary to play the second game". There are clear rules and we respect them. That was a deflating moment for West Ham and one which leaves Bilic under pressure once more; after all, a loss this weekend could see them slip into the bottom three ahead of the November worldwide break. That's really important for us.

Klopp, who has kept faith in Moreno, selecting him in eight of his side's ten league games, insists that the former Sevilla man being called up to the national team is proof of the good work he has been doing with his team.
