Brooklyn Nets' Jeremy Lin suffers ruptured patella tendon; expected to miss season

One day after Gordon Hayward's season effectively ended with a gruesome ankle injury, Nets guard Jeremy Lin exited Brooklyn's Wednesday night game against the Indiana Pacers with a right knee injury.

Lin attacked the rim late in the fourth quarter when two Pacers defenders closed out with authority.

"Jeremy worked tremendously hard during the off-season and in training camp and was excited for the prospects of the team this season", Nets General Manager Sean Marks said in a statement. "Jeremy remains an important part of this team and will continue to contribute in a leadership role".

According to ESPN, he will undergo an evaluation on his knee in NY with the Nets reportedly concerned over the severity of the injury.

Moving forward, head coach Kenny Atkinson might look to start or give even more minutes at the shooting guard position to offseason addition Allen Crabbe and second-year combo guard Caris LeVert.

The Nets will now likely slide D'Angelo Russell to his previous position at point guard, leaving Isaiah Whitehead and Spencer Dinwiddie as backups at the position. LeVert was slowed by injuries at MI, and they plagued him again in his rookie season. His health has improved this season so far.
