Prasad accused the Congress of halting development in Gujarat for years and said Rahul Gandhi will have to answer why his government deliberately delayed many projects when it was in power at the Centre. His elevation will come before the crucial Assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where the Congress is facing a tough challenge from the BJP.
He was referring to Rahul Gandhi's two visits to Gujarat during which he visited several temples, including Kabir Mandir in Saliya and was seen sporting a "tilak" on his forehead. Former Union minister Sachin Pilot indicated recently that Mr Gandhi will take over the reins of the outfit after Diwali. Coming down heavily on the Congress while lauding efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote development in India on the lines of Gujarat Model, he said: "Uttar Pradesh's Rai Barely and Amethi are being represented by three generations of the Gandhi family, but in the last 14 years, Rahul Gandhi never bothered about construction of collectorate in Amethi".
Terming those demanding Gandhi's elevation in the party as his "courtiers", BJP media in-charge Devendra Bhasin said they were saying this to just please their boss.
Agarwal said that the all the leaders claimed that with Sonia Gandhi finding it hard to contribute enough time to the organisation, it was the right time to elevate Rahul Gandhi to the top post of Congress. He has been the party vice president since 2013.
Yogi also alleged "that Congress killed Mahatma Gandhi's ideology and as Mahatma Gandhi had said that the relevance of the Congress had ended after Independence. I want to assure you that in the next Assembly elections, these seven Members of Legislative Assembly won't be able to retain their seats", asserted Yogi Adityanath. The Congress always emerges back; whenever people can think that they can finish it off, the Congress always emerges successfully.
Rahul Gandhi is eyeing to dethrone the ruling BJP in Gujarat.
