The National Weather Service said winds of 35 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour had occurred Sunday night.

Fourteen fires are burning across eight counties, including Napa, Sonoma and Yuba. Cal Fire tweeted that as many as 8,000 homes were threatened in Nevada County, which lies on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. Those impacted by the fire can also check the Cal Fire website or Nixle for further updates on evacuations. The winds were expected to subside at midday. Montecito area evacuated.
