A year ago, Howard University recorded an 11-point improvement. University of Delhi was placed in the 201-250 category and in the measure of producing highly-achieving graduates, it received 96.6 out of 100, which is one of the highest scores in the world.
The University of IL at Champaign-Urbana saw a slide to No. 52 to tie with Pennsylvania State University after being knocked out of the six-way tie for No. 46 it had been a part of a year ago.
In the "High School Counselors Top College Picks" category Tulane is ranked 39th.
There are some 1,800 four-year colleges and universities in the United States, according to U.S. News and World Report.
The U.S. News methodology emphasizes factors that tend to favor private universities, such as endowment size, rate of alumni giving and student-faculty ratio. "This ranking is simply a reminder that we are a leader in public education".
UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science is now ranked No. 82, up from last year's ranking of No. 84. Bradley tied for 26th place, out of 200 colleges and universities across the country. The School of Management is also highly rated, at No. 78, among more than 700 accredited schools. Separate lists, such as best liberal arts colleges, best-value schools and best undergraduate business programs, are also distributed.

TCNJ also ranked as the top university for veterans in the region and second in the region for Best Undergraduate Teaching.
UCLA tied for the No. 10 best public engineering school (tied for No. 18 overall) among engineering schools whose highest degree offered is a doctorate.
"Our students are accepted into professional schools, including medical, dental, law and pharmacy programs, at rates well above state and national averages".
The rankings focus on student outcomes - including graduation and retention rates - which carry the most weight at 30 percent.
