Chelsea To Make £35m Bid For Oxlade-Chamberlain

It is certainly interesting to note that Chamberlain has just one year left on his contract and so will be able to leave the club on a free come the end of the season.

As had been reported earlier by The Telegraph, progress between Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arsenal over a new contract has suddenly faltered after the England winger became frustrated that he has still not been offered a new deal.

However, it looks as though Liverpool could be beaten to the punch as the Daily Star claim that after seeing their initial £25m bid rejected by Arsenal, Chelsea have now tabled an improved £35m offer for The Ox.

According to the Daily Star, the Blues have already offered £25m but are willing to increase their bid in an effort to land the England global.

Blues boss Antonio Conte has been busy in the transfer market this summer, but wants further additions before the closure of the transfer window, and Oxlade-Chamberlain is thought to be high on his wanted list.

Liverpool are reportedly more open to that idea, but have not quite shown as much of an interest.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's first game of the new season against Leicester City, Wenger said of Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries. He is on the way up and he will continue to move up because that potential is there.

Arsene Wenger has insisted he wants Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay, but if Arsenal can agree a new contract with the player or not remains to be seen. Today he is conscious of his qualities.
