Suns guard Brandon Knight has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and could miss the entire season, league source tells ESPN.

Brandon Knight in play for the Suns. Then, following reports that Kyrie Irving demanded a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Suns seemingly got into the mix for the All-Star as well. They were one of the worst teams in the National Basketball Association last season with a 24-58 record that saw them finish at the 15th spot in the Western Conference. The injury occurred whole Knight was playing in a pro-am game last week in Miami.

It is expected that he undergoes surgery on Friday.

For his career, Knight holds averages of 15.2 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 382 games with Detroit, Milwaukee and the Suns. Last season he was in the starting lineup only five times, as he mostly came off the bench.

The 25-year-old appeared in 54 games last season, averaging 11.0 points and 2.4 assists in 21.1 minutes per game. Phoenix has dangled Knight in trade talks off and on for at least the past year, and found no team who would take on Knight's contract without also nabbing draft assets.
