Spider-Man: Homecoming has had strong review scores across the board, and we can only add to them with our own 4.5 star review, which it undoubtedly deserves. Do you think Tobey would be a great Uncle Ben?
Spider-Man: Homecoming left fans with a few unanswered questions.
When asked about who would play Uncle Ben, Tom didn't hesitate at all. Peter Parker's Aunt May has got a major revamp in Spider-Man: Homecoming and is being played by Marisa Tomei, and there's no reason her husband (Uncle Ben is May's husband in the Marvel universe), shouldn't get an upgrade too. Additionally, it's assumed that Uncle Ben already died prior to when Holland's Spider-Man was introduced in Captain America: Civil War past year, and he's hardly mentioned in Spider-Man: Homecoming at all. "I don't think he'll do it though", Tom told BBC Radio 1 recently.
Holland is the third actor to play Peter Parker and live action and when it comes to a vacant role for one of the key pieces of Spidey's origins, the London native has an idea of who should fill it. However, they were at the very center of the in-game footage released as well.
It was so refreshing to not see another origin story that retells us everything we already know like The Amazing Spider-Man did, but instead showed us a new perspective on the character. The guardian duo of Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downy Jr.) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) overseeing his return to the mean streets of New York City makes for a lot of good comedy and grounding for the film within the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
