Shots fired at New York City's Bronx Lebanon hospital, suspect killed

At least one person has reportedly been killed and several others wounded - including three doctors - after shots were fired at a hospital in NY.

A spokesman for Mayor Bill de Blasio said he has been briefed on the situation.

According to ABC7NY, gunfire was reported at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center around 3 p.m. local time.

Police received multiple 911 calls about someone shot. Several others are injured regarding the shooting at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

CBS News reported that a gunman, believed to be a former hospital employee, was armed with a rifle and had barricaded himself inside the building.

Aerial footage of the scene showed the hospital surrounded by police cars and fire trucks. Police say at least two victims have been shot.

The Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in the Bronx borough is among the largest providers of outpatient services in NY. Its emergency room is among the busiest in New York City.

Police swarmed the hospital searching for an assailant, the New York Daily News said.

It is about a mile and a half north of Yankee Stadium.

Donald later confirmed that the suspected shooter was confirmed dead, though there was no immediate word on how he died.
