Responding to the nomination of Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as the presidential candidate of the ruling NDA, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said that the party will not support anyone if they try to use a person's caste to garner votes. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray were also present at the meeting.

"If we suggest a name of the candidate then they (opposition) will think that the name has already been finalised".

Congress MLA Nitesh Narayan Rane took a dig at Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday when he wrote a letter to Guinness World Record, requesting to register a record in the right-wing party's name for its numerous empty promises to withdraw support from the Maharashtra government.

Mumbai: Adopting a hawkish stance, Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Saturday categorically ruled out resumption of bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. According to a source in the Shiv Sena, Shah told Thackeray that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would decide the NDA's candidate for the highest constitutional post.

"When the Sena talks about farmers and takes a nationalist stand over issues, attempts are made to teach us a lesson".

Expressing serious concerns over the renewed spate of terror in J&K and the violence revived in West Bengal's Darjeeling, the Sena said these heavenly places on earth are now passing through a bad spell, but "some people" are more eager about winning mid-term elections in Maharashtra. He said that the transformation of Mumbai is taking place rapidly due to Central governments involvement and also expressed confidence take the city to next level in infrastructure and GDP growth within next 5 years. He has called a meeting of Sena leaders on Tuesday to discuss it. The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah and Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. "It was a very positive meeting and sent a signal that the Sena is very much part of the NDA despite its frequent outbursts", a BJP functionary said. "Bhagwat is the most appropriate choice for the Rashtrapati's office if India is to be turned into a Hindu Rashtra", he said.
