PlayLink For PS4 Is A New Way From Sony To Play Games

Posted June 14, 2017

The PlayLink games are played on the PS4 console and controlled using an iPhone or Android smartphone instead of the DualShock controller.

Through these gameplay mechanics, Hidden Agenda is expanding on the possibilities of Until Dawn, a surprise breakout hit of PS4 from 2015 which players enjoyed playing in group despite it only featuring a single player mode.

PlayLink is a "category of games" created to be played socially, Qizilbash said. Players must connect their phones using PlayLink, PlayStation's mobile app which allows input via each individual's player's smartphones to solve these mysteries.

At its E3 conference this year, Sony has announced a new collection of smartphone-controlled games created to entertain the whole family, including those who might not usually play games. The other titles to be included in this lineup of games including SingStar Celebration, Knowledge is Power, and Frantics.

To commemorate the launch of PlayLink, Sony will also be giving out That's You! to PlayStation Plus members starting on July 4th! It's a comedy quick which challenges the player and five of their friends to answer questions that reveal how they really feel about each other. PlayLink refers to a new initiative to make games more social, citing Until Dawn as inspiration. The collection of PlayLink games vary from gritty crime thrillers to quick-fire quizzes.

The PlayStation 4 exclusive is due out this year. Also happening will be secrets sent to each players phone that gives them an agenda, other players then need to figure out what it is these players have up their sleeve.
