70th Cannes Film Festival opens amid heavy security

This week, the point was driven home when stars turned out to the Cannes Film Festival in France with new, stunning lobs all over the red carpet.

Supermodel Bella Hadid's high split gown has led to a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

For less bloodshed, and more glamour, here's the best of the Cannes red carpet so far.

And even off the red carpet, the actress has attracted the world's attention.

Days after the Festival released a statement announcing its plan to require all competing films to be seen in French cinemas, Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, who is president of this year's jury, released one of his own on Wednesday supporting the decision. She added, "For me, it's like having a massive essay due, you're trying to think how will I get it together, especially when you're working and you're doing other things".

The brightest star of Cannes is Monica Bellucci, she is the Mistress of Ceremonies, the Italian actress honoured to open and close the Film Fest. She wore a high slit champagne silk gown designed by Alexandre Vauthier, and teamed it up with a necklace while her white high heels completed the look.

Emily wore a sheer, gothic gown by Norwegian designer Peter Dundas. Her day started with sunny Solace London outfit.

Hadid's "big risk" past year paid off as she suffered no noticeable wardrobe malfunction besides the essential malfunction that is the nature of a dress cut to display most of the wearer's torso as well as hips, up to the waist.

The look was much different from her loose-tressed look in a jewel toned maroon gown on the opening day of the gala, where she shared the frame with names like Susan Sarandon, Julianne Moore, and Elle Fanning.
