The Coast Guard has helped a disabled boat with five people on board off the coast of North Carolina.

The Coast Guard towed the boat up the Forge River to the owner's residence, the Coast Guard said in a news release.

The stations are each equipped with 29-foot response boats and crews that are available to respond 24 hours a day.

Once on scene, crews found the missing swimmer on top of the rocks.

The Coast Guard says the most important thing is to wear a life jacket, no matter what kind of watercraft you're in.

- The Coat Guard and San Francisco Fire Department rescued two hypothermic swimmers near China Beach and Land's End this morning.

Sometime before 10 a.m. Sunday, a local fisherman spotted a body on a beach and a Coast Guard plane confirmed by air. A float plan is a lifesaving tool and provides emergency responders with valuable information they need to search for a distressed boater.
