Liverpool target Theo Hernandez has reportedly passed a medical at Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old, who is now on-loan at Alaves from Atletico Madrid, is understood to be a target for Jurgen Klopp as he aims for defensive reinforcement this summer.
And that should ensure a red-hot atmosphere at the Vicente Calderon for Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg. Jesus Vallejo is also expected to be with the first team next season after spending this year on loan in Frankfurt.
News that Barcelona and Real Madrid are already making inroads to secure Hernandez's signature will feel like a hammer blow to Jurgen Klopp.
He signed a long-term contract with Atletico, which has a release clause of £20m ($26m), before joining Alaves on loan.
Manuel Garcia Quilon told Footmercato: "For now he's not close to either of the teams".
"Both are really interested but we've not closed anything with them".
"There are concrete offers -both have made an offer to the level of his release clause - but we haven't chosen".
Foot Mercato quoted the agent saying: "The boy will decide where he wants to go".
"But everyone - the club, the players, their mother and their agent - thought the best thing for them was to continue their growth at Atletico".
In addition, the prospect of a move to Real could be dented by Atletico's reluctance to do business with their biggest rivals.
