The sit down interview with Dr Travis Stork is the first time Lamar has spoken about his overdose in a Nevada brothel that left him in a coma.
The 37-year-old former basketball star - who was previously married to Khloe Kardashian - nearly died after a drugs and alcohol binge at a brothel in Nevada in October 2015 and Lamar admitted in a new interview that he was in a "dark place" at the time.
"I was going through my divorce, and I just really needed an outlet", the 32-year-old, who flaunts a red bodysuit on the cover, said. I couldn't even speak at the time.
In an interview with USA talk show The Doctors, Odom said: "I wasn't in a good place mentally, especially mentally, before the incident happened".
The ex-LA Laker appeared on the show "The Doctors" earlier this week and discussed how he was in a dark place during the time of his near-fatal overdose in October 2015. "I couldn't talk. Nothing would come out of my mouth, so I was scared".
Lamar, who is still recovering from his nearly fatal overdose, is trying to find some positives in what occurred.
Odom conducted the interview shortly before going into rehab, and he reveals that he only found out how close he was to death when Kardashian told him the news. "I can tell the story".
She's the January/February cover star of Health Mag in the U.S. and she used the opportunity to get real on her fitness journey, as well as dolling out advice to younger girls who feel the pressure of not fitting into the "ideal" body type. In a promotional clip from a full interview that's due to air in January, and which was filmed a few weeks ago, he was asked by Dr. Travis Stork about what he remembered that night.
As of right now, Lamar Odom is focusing on living a healthy lifestyle and being a good dad to his kids.
Not surprisingly, fans and the media alike have been digging for more details about Odom's rehab stint and that means his family and friends have been getting badgered to give out the intimate details of his sobriety.
