To make things worse for incumbent players, Reliance is also offering some free 4G data and access to a bouquet of content services at no charge to its users for six months. Non 4G users would be provided 50MB free data. Prices of the unlimited calling packs may vary from circle to circle, Idea Cellular said in a statement. Opting in for these tariff plans would offer limitless local calls along with free STD calls to Vodafone numbers.
The first pack, which costs Rs 145, offers 300 MB data to customers with 4G ready mobile phones along with free Local and STD Airtel-to-Airtel calls.
Both the Rs. 345 and Rs. 145 Airtel prepaid packs have a validity of 28 days.
Another recharge of Rs 348 will allow users to make free local and STD calls on any network in the country.
Along with the usual calling, the company is also bundling 1GB of 4G data for users with a 4G SIM card.
The announcement comes a day after Airtel offered similar plans to its over 260 million subscribers. The pack is valid for 28 days and is available for customers across India. This Airtel pack accompanies 300MB of data for 4G-prepared cell phones, and 50MB of data for essential cell phones that can get to the Internet and light online networking applications.
While these leading telecom service providers in the country, are really cutting close in terms of pricing with what Reliance Jio offers to its prepaid users, with its "cheapest services in the world", they still stand a step behind.
