Messi and Pique ready to feature for Barca at Celtic

Rodgers was giving the latest team news at Celtic Park ahead of the match tonight.

It marked the sixth time this season that Neymar has assisted Messi on a goal and it was Neymar's seventh assist of this Champions League campaign.

Now with just domestic football to focus on, Celtic will look to maintain their excellent start to the season and achieve further success.

"I still can't believe it, it was a dream debut", he said. It was a lot like the game against Manchester City [at Camp Nou].

"I think two months down the line we're a better team, we're a stronger team mentally, we had to grow mentally and we've shown we've done that".

Neymar appeared to be fortunate to escape with just a booking in the match, which will see him miss Barca's final group game, as he pushed Mikel Lustig to the turf after the players had clashed.

The former Liverpool and Swansea boss knows his side is facing one of the best teams in Europe but he's backed his players to show they can live with Barca this time.

"We'd have had a big chance", he said, when asked if Celtic could win if they had the Argentinean.

Tom Rogic is one of three players to return to Celtic's starting lineup for the visit of Barcelona in the Champions League this evening.

Suarez got on the wrong side of Emilio Izaguirre and the Celtic defender hauled him to the ground to earn a penalty that Messi sent straight down the middle to score his 502nd goal for the Catalan giants.

The victory in Scotland gave Barça 12 points from five games and ensured they can not now be caught by second place Manchester City, who are four points behind. "We are only in the 12th game of LaLiga, the fifth game of the Champions League, Christmas still to come".

To finish top of the group is still in our own hands - if we win the remaining two games we will still win the group - and that has always been our objective.

"We got into good areas over the course of the game, some of our play was very good, but we lacked that little quality".
