Luke Cage is Marvel's third series for Netflix and so far they are three for three in securing recurring seasons.
Sweet Christmas! As if the early reviews of Rogue One were not enough to excite you, Marvel just announced that Luke Cage will be back for a second season. The posts are also accompanied by Pop's own motto, which Luke Cage takes to heart in Season 1: "Always forward". In the video, not only do we see "Pop's Barber Shop", but we see the confirmation of season two.
With this announcement, the series becomes the third program from Marvel to be given a second season on the streaming platform. As it stands, it's still a very good show - but it is the weakest of the Marvel Netflix adaptations, by fair. These heroes are set to unite in the limited eight-episode miniseries The Defenders in 2017, which has caused both Jessica Jones Season 2 and Daredevil Season 3 to be pushed to 2018, according to Screen Crush. Let us know in the comments! But Luke Cage, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will all appear in The Defenders to ease the wait for more Marvel on Netflix.
There's plenty of material to mine for Luke Cage Season 2, assuming The Defenders doesn't catch us up with Alfre Woodard's Mariah Dillard or Eric LaRay Harvey's Diamondback, who himself was last seen flirting with a similar skin treatment to his half-brother.
