Will Kansas State-Oklahoma be high-scoring?

Posted October 15, 2016

OU rolled up 672 total yards of offense, the second-most for the Sooners against Texas in the series (677 in 2012 is the record).

This isn't one of K-State coach Bill Snyder's most prolific offenses.

"We can't wait to go into OU and give them a little payback for previous year", said Wildcats offensive tackle Dalton Risner.

The Kansas State Wildcats go on the road to face the rival Oklahoma Sooners in Big 12 action.

"I've got great admiration and respect for coach, and I loved my time there", Stoops said of Snyder. "They are young, but they have a good combination of run and pass". We have got the guys to do it.

That's especially true on defense.

Things weren't flawless on the back end defensively against Texas, but even though Ahmad Thomas, Michiah Quick and Kahlil Haughton all were knocked out of the game with injuries, the Sooners made more plays out of the secondary than they had so far in the season. A big reason for that has been a rash of injuries. Both the side and the total moved off the original numbers in this matchup, will Oklahoma moving from a 10-point favorite to -10.5, and the total dropping from 63.5 down to 60.5. Really it's going to be on us.

Kansas State would like to erase the memory of a 55-0 loss at home. Charles Jones led the Wildcats on the ground with 128 yards on 19 touches including a short TD run.

But there are still plenty of holes to fill. "He would just tell me that they're pretty easy to tackle", Walker told reporters Tuesday.

"They're a sound team", Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield said. I don't think that we're going to take Kansas State at all because they're not a light team.

"It's another challenge", Steven Parker, OU junior defensive back, said. Not only did he have to shift from free safety to strong safety to nickel back during the course of the game but it's his job to make sure everyone else in the secondary is aligned correctly. It's incredible. They know what they're doing. "It's really more communication and making sure everybody is all in one and all intact".

The Oklahoma Sooners have rebounded from their 1-2 start with consecutive victories over TCU and Texas.

Junior running back Samaje Perine has 461 yards with six touchdowns as the leading rusher for the Sooners.

Oklahoma has likely fallen from the ranks of College Football Playoff contenders, but this game is still incredibly important if the Sooners are to defend their Big 12 title.
